Perl in a Nutshell

The "in a nutshell" books are a strange mix of reference and guide that actually seems to work out very well in most cases. This is a good example. It is mostly reference but has useful overview stuff that comes at the start of each section. For example, there is an overview of CGI that explains what it is, gives some HTML examples, and so on. Nothing is assumed, so there is introductory material on what Perl is all about, but in general this is a fast-paced title that is suitable for experienced programmers who now need to learn Perl, or indeed Perl experts who want a handy printed reference to the language. Get this as well as Programming Perl - the two books serve different functions.
