I've been using a pop-up windows toolbar (with large icons) as a launcher at the bottom of my main screen since Windows 2000 (the taskbar is relegated to my second monitor).

I was pleasantly surprised to find a combination of the two bars when I first tried Mac OS X and now its on Windows 7.

It can only be a good thing IMHO.
