Is Steve Yegge talking about JavaScript?

It does sound like it. If so, there’s no need to be so mysterious. JavaScript a.k.a. ActionScript a.k.a. ECMAScript is growing fast, thanks to AJAX along with Adobe’s work on Flash, Flex and Apollo. See this Register article for more of my comments on this.
