it’s just so frustrating for uk residents. prices are always stupid….no wonder the bittorrents sites are humming.

Well exchange rates or not, I cannot find this pre-order £49 version anywhere.

It seems you cannot order it directly from Microsoft, they point you to a few retailers none of which actually have it. They all have the Vista with “free” upgrade to 7. Yet, they charge more for that than 7 will cost or Vista without the upgrade, an odd definition of free.

Its bad enough I can’t get a free upgrade having only owned my laptop a few months, but to not even be able to find the discounted one is annoying. No way I am going back to Vista.

Where do these American companies get their exchange rates? $50 is about £32 at the moment – and we don’t even get a browser thrown in!! The UK version should be cheaper!

Thanks. What confused me is the sheer lack of ANY retailers in the white box, so well done Microsoft that page is completely useless.

Still annoyed that because a) I got my laptop 2 months ago b) it has Vista Home Basic, I do not get a free upgrade to Windows 7. I did not expect one, but I did live in hope that Microsoft would do the right thing and offer upgrades for anyone who activated Vista recently.

I cannot find this particular option. When I follow that link I just get told I can buy Windows Vista now and get a free upgrade to Windows 7. No mention of £49.99 for Windows 7 Home Premium pre-order.

That said, it seems to be stuck on the US page as further down it talks about buying a PC now with Vista and getting the 7 upgrade. I try to change country from United States there but it still says United States, even though the URL says UK.
