Japan: Let’s name our new games console Wii. What could be wrong with that?
UK: Kid; I wanna Wii! I wanna Wii now! (Kid, college age).
UK: Parent; OK! OK! I’m looking for a loo now. (Parent, stuck in hover mode).

USA: Let’s name our new programming product Microsoft F#. What could be wrong with that?

USA & UK: Microsoft F***! (College age to 30-somethings mostly).

Purile, I know, but oh so true.

P.S. Like the sound of F#’s functionality, especially from the point of view of the promise of physics programming, assuming it integrates well with the DirectCompute module of DirectX 11′s SDK, amongst other things.

Sinofsky is a good speaker; the question is why present a session on Windows 7 quality at a developer conference keynote, when there is a lot more that should have been said about the developer tools, languages etc. Missed opportunity.

Just a clarifying note, Dotfuscator in VS2010 does support an “opt-in” mechanism so the end user can control whether the tracking stuff is enabled or not

Interesting stuff. Another alternative to Subversion that’s rapidly growing is Git and GitHub. Admittedly, it doesn’t seem to be overly popular for .NET developers: “C Sharp is the #12 most popular language on GitHub”.
