The OGG/THEORA format with Firefox 3.1 support, will allow a large ammount of internet tv sites, like OGGTV to compete directly with flash and silverlight sites.

(Sorry, that was indeed "the Silverlight version of this project", as opposed to the Windows Vista Ultimate version of this project. My shorthand was too short. ;-)

Thanks for the comment John.

This thread promises more info on why fullscreen viewing is not available to Silverlight:
http://silverlight.net/forums/t/22318.aspx

I looked this up; it seems to be specific to this project, not a Silverlight vs Vista issue:

no, this is not a technical limitation of Silverlight. This was a limitation of the constraints around this specific project. Under most circumstances, fullscreen video is very easy to enable.

Hi Tim, I didn't hear the original quote, but believe the "downloading for Vista" part refers to the high-definition video offerings... more info available with search term "olympics 'vista premium' 'media center'".

I agree with you that it's a difficult business dynamic to be universal while revenue comes from being non-universal. Vista must do things which Silverlight cannot, or else why do Vista?
