Here are the <a href=\"http:\/\/lists.w3.org\/Archives\/Public\/public-html\/2007May\/0909.html\" target=\"_blank\">details from the co-chairs<\/a>. This will speed up the process, and more significantly, brings together the W3C and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.whatwg.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">WHATWG<\/a>. WHATWG was set up by browser vendors (Microsoft excluded) out of frustration with the W3C process and its abandonment of HTML in favour of XHTML.<\/p>\n<p>Does this now make WHATWG pointless?
