A tabtop? Or perhaps a tabletop, which is a good way to describe Acer\u2019s R7. The hinge (called \u201cEzel\u201d) swings up to become a stalk supporting the tablet, raising it above the table.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/gadgets.itwriting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/image3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"image\" style=\"border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/gadgets.itwriting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/image_thumb3.png\" width=\"404\" height=\"364\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>What is the value of this configuration? Maybe you can think of something?<\/p>\n<p>The thinking here (if I have it right) is that you can get the screen closer to your eyes than would be possible with a normal laptop. In other words, the flat table-top is not the normal use, but rather a tilt towards you but raised above the keyboard, if you see what I mean.<\/p>\n<p>Alternatively, there is a backwards configuration which, I was told, is for presentations. The keyboard is your side, while the screen points into the room.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/gadgets.itwriting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/image4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"image\" style=\"border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/gadgets.itwriting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/image_thumb4.png\" width=\"404\" height=\"252\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Of course, you won\u2019t actually be able to see the screen yourself but that is a small detail versus the great view afforded to your audience. I am being a little unfair \u2013 the idea I think is that you sit screen-side too, and control it by touch.<\/p>\n<p>You can also fold the screen flat to make a standard fat tablet configuration.<\/p>\n<p>Failing that, there is a keyboard-only mode \u2013 note, no trackpad on view. <\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/gadgets.itwriting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/image5.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"image\" style=\"border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-left: 0px; border-left: 0px; display: inline; padding-right: 0px\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/gadgets.itwriting.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/image_thumb5.png\" width=\"404\" height=\"336\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is to avoid hitting the trackpad by mistake, apparently.
