So what\u2019s new?<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.itwriting.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/image19.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; margin: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; border-top: 0px; border-right: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"image\" border=\"0\" alt=\"image\" src=\"http:\/\/www.itwriting.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/image_thumb19.png\" width=\"244\" height=\"204\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/en-us\/news\/Press\/2012\/May12\/05-31Windows8RPPR.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">press release<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Confirms that a \u201ctouch-friendly and power-optimized Adobe Flash Player\u201d is integrated into Internet Explorer 10<\/li>\n<li>Announces new Family Safety features<\/li>\n<li>States that IE10 is \u201cDo not track\u201d by default<\/li>\n<li>Announces new apps and improvements to existing ones<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All of which will come as a disappointment to those hoping for any sort of change of direction following a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.itwriting.com\/blog\/5581-crisis-in-microsoft-land-what-next-after-the-mixed-reception-for-windows-8-consumer-preview.html\" target=\"_blank\">mixed-to-negative reception<\/a> for the Consumer Preview.<\/p>\n<p>Windows chief Steven Sinofsky <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.msdn.com\/b\/b8\/archive\/2012\/05\/31\/delivering-the-windows-8-release-preview.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">says<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>If the feedback and telemetry on Windows 8 and Windows RT match our expectations, then we will enter the final phases of the RTM process in about 2 months. <\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>My guess that feedback along the lines of \u201cBring back the Start menu\u201d will not count as an obstacle.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft has made the Release Preview of Windows 8 available to download.
