Game over for VC-1?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Microsoft has <a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/presspass\/features\/2008\/sep08\/09-09silverlight.mspx\">announced<\/a> that Silverlight will support the H.264 video standard \u201cin a future version\u201d, along with AAC for audio. H.264 is also used by Adobe Flash and has wide adoption across the industry; it\u2019s likely that your HD video camera records to H.264, for example.<\/p>\n<p>Good news for Silverlight, though it may be a while before we see this rolled out, but surely bad news for VC-1, Microsoft\u2019s preferred video format and part of the Windows Media family.
