Occasionally you may find Vi is the only editor available. To use it to edit somefile.txt type:<\/p>\n
vi somefile.txt<\/p>\n
Now type:<\/p>\n
i<\/p>\n
This puts you into insert mode and you can type. Type something.<\/p>\n
When you are done, type the Esc key to go back to command mode. Type:<\/p>\n
ZZ<\/p>\n
(must be upper case) to save the file and quit.<\/p>\n
If you don\u2019t want to save, type:<\/p>\n
:q!<\/p>\n
to quit without saving.<\/p>\n
