September 18, 2006Heavy user praises Amazon S3Posted 2467 days ago on September 18, 2006I've just caught up with Don MacAskill's post on the business case for Amazon S3. He is enthusiastic, to say the least, calling it the "Holy Grail" and praising its performance and ease of programming as well as its cost. It's significant because SmugMug is a serious user, with around 300 TB of data. "Anyone who doesn't get on board with Amazon S3 (or the inevitable S3 competitors) may get left behind. I'm glad we're first, but I doubt it'll last," he continues. It came to my attention today because I've been improving my Delphi implementation for the final part of a tutorial, adding file upload/download in a background thread. All it needs now is a progress bar. Updated code isn't yet posted. No comments, be the first! Comments are closed |
